Uncommon Threads Retreat
with Venerable Pannavati
March 22 - 24, 2024
Practitioners of the Jewish faith, Christian believers and Buddhists can benefit from the relation between the mutual tenets, virtues and methods of attainment. The Vietnamese Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hahn said, “… a Catholic priest …. told me Buddhism makes him a better Christian. I love that.” That priest was Father Thomas Keating, creator of the centering prayer movement. Over this weekend retreat, Venerable Pannavati, a Buddhist female monk, former Christian Pastor and worship leader will lead us through periods of inquiry, reflection, and meditation engendering joy and confidence in overcoming the vicissitudes of life. She says, there comes a place on the seeker’s journey.. only when the question is sincerely asked…that scattered worldly wisdom yields to heart wisdom, which becomes absolute non-differentiating wisdom.
Venerable Pannavati Bhikkhuni is founder of Heartwood Refuge, an intentional spiritual community and abbot of Embracing Simplicity Hermitage, a 21st century trans-lineage Buddhist Order. Ordained in Theravada and Mahayana with Vajrayana empowerments and authorization to teach, she currently serves as a VP for the US for the Global Buddhist Bhikkhuni Association and propagates the teachings of her final Master, H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III through Correct Cultivation Learning from Buddha Academy as her final work.
